Every pair starts with a lamb on our hillside in Bangall, New York. We raise the Finnsheep, shear the wool, and have it spun and knit into socks made in the USA — nothing between our pasture and your feet.
Our story
One flock. One farm. From our pasture to your feet.
Point of View Farm is a small family farm on a hillside in Bangall, New York, in northern Dutchess County. Our Finnsheep lambs are born on pasture and moved to fresh grass every few days — that’s the whole secret. Healthy, unhurried sheep grow wool that is fine, springy and remarkably soft.
We shear once a year and skirt every fleece by hand before it goes to a small American fiber mill, where it is washed, carded and spun into a durable, next-to-skin yarn. What comes back is knit into socks with a cushioned terry footbed, then packed here on the farm and sent straight to you.

What makes this wool worth wearing
Finnsheep wool is softer than you expect
Finnsheep (Finnish Landrace) fleece is fine, lustrous and springy, with long staple and low lanolin. It takes a soft hand that wears next to the skin without the prickle most people associate with wool socks — and it keeps its loft wash after wash.
Warm wet, cool in summer
Wool holds warmth even when damp, wicks sweat away from the skin and resists odor, so a pair of Finnsheep wool socks works in a February barn and in hiking boots in July. Most of our customers wear them year round.
One flock, one farm, no mystery wool
Every fleece comes off sheep we raise ourselves, is skirted by hand here, and is spun and knit at small American mills. No overseas outsourcing, no blended-in wool of unknown origin.

Questions people ask
- What are Finnsheep wool socks?
- They are socks knit from the fleece of Finnsheep — a Finnish heritage breed known for fine, soft, lustrous wool. Ours come from our own flock in Bangall, New York, and are spun and knit in the USA.
- How do I wash wool socks?
- Hand washing with a non-abrasive wool wash is the gold standard. Machine washing can be acceptable when performed under proper conditions — cold water, gentle cycle, wool wash, and line dry. Skip bleach and fabric softener. Wool needs washing far less often than cotton — air them out between wears and they stay fresh.
- What size should I order?
- Our socks come in Medium and Large, and our sock finder matches your shoe size, who the socks are for and what you will wear them with in three quick questions.
- Where can I buy your socks in person?
- At the Copake Hillsdale Farmers Market on Saturdays, at the Muscoot Market on select Sundays, and at the New York Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck — Horticulture Building 22D, Booths 3 and 4. You can also pick up an online order at the farm in Bangall.
- Do you ship?
- Yes — socks ship anywhere in the USA by regular UPS or USPS Ground.
